A rare poster by Marie Vassilieff done in Paris 1924 for a ball in aid of artists.
Marie Vassilieff (Marina Ivanovna Vassiliéva) 1884-1957 born in Russia she studied art at the Academy in St. Petersburg later in 1907 she moved to Paris and studied painting under Henry Matisse. She attended classes at the Ećole nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Only one or two posters known she later founded the Russian Academy later known as the Academy Vassilieff.
Her paintings are held in many Museums and her ornamental panels in 1927 were created for the dining room of LA Coupole.
